Are you a songwriter or composer?

Please note that this call for applications has now closed and we are no longer accepting submissions.

16% The percentage of PRS-registered composers/songwriters that are female.
6%  The percentage of PRS-registered composers/songwriters that are BAMER.[1]

So, what are you going to do about it?
Vox are setting up a commission for one emerging non cis-male and one emerging BAMER songwriter or composer interested in writing for the voice.

Sounds great. What does it involve?
4 June 2017: Female and BAMER composer/songwriters submit pre-existing pieces/songs.
12 June 2017: We let you know whether you’ve been chosen.
1/2 July 2017: Vox performs the two winning submissions at Southbank Centre’s Chorus festival.
Autumn 2017: You are commissioned to write one new 3-6 minute piece each for Vox. We workshop the new material.

2018: Vox premieres the two new works at Chorus 2018.

The commission will be worth at least £100 each, paid on delivery of the new work. We are currently sourcing additional funding and are hopeful that this figure will be increased to £250.

Please drop us an email on if you have any queries.

We look forward to hearing from you.
